According to ElUniverso.com the Ecuadorian Air Force (FAE) has suspended the shipment of Cheetah fighter-bombers from South Africa until an investigation is concluded into an accident that injured an air force pilot on Monday, August 15th. Navy representatives say the pilot, Galo Alvarez, was able to land safely at the Taura Air Force Base after suffering cabin decompression. The Ecuadorian Air Force entered an agreement in 2008 with a South African company to acquire 12 Cheetah fighter-bombers for $78.5 million. However, the air force has only been using three of these planes at the time of the accident. Officials say the three planes were delivered this past May, assembled and just two weeks ago were ready for test flights.Read Article
