Ecuador: Wine Company Closed in Tungurahua Due to Methanol Contamination

According to ElComercio.com the Police Commissioner of Tungurahua, Ivan Rios, confirmed that a wine company was closed after primary analysis confirmed that the alcohol contained methanol. The closure comes after the wife of a contaminated alcohol victim confirmed that her husband had fallen ill after consuming wine from this establishment. In a Twitter message, the Minister of Public Health confirmed that the establishment’s wine tested positive for methanol and caused at least two deaths in Tungurahua. Officials say 22 people have died throughout Ecuador from methanol-contaminated alcohol.Read Article
