Ecuador reports over 17 million mobile phone lines

Mobile phone companies operating on the Ecuadorian market reached 17.38 million active lines at end-September, according to data by the Superintendency of Telecommunications (Supertel). Of these, around 80.69 percent or over 14 million are prepay lines. Movistar had over 5 million mobile lines in service at end-September, while Claro had 11.82 million active lines, and CNT EP’s customer base stood at 486,796 active lines.

Ecuador also had over 2.35 million fixed telephony subscribers in September 2012. CNT had over 2 million fixed voice customers, followed by Etapa (152.358), EcuadorTelecom (106.737), and Setel (63.728 users). read article
