Ecuador. ranks 37 of 142 Nations in prosperity index in 2014

telegrafo.com.e reported according to the study by the Legatum Institute, the best performance of the country is in the subscript of Personal liberty, where he occupies the number 37. The index of prosperity 2014, which annually produces the Legatum Institute, revealed yesterday that Ecuador climbed a position in the ranking of this year up to 73 place among 142 countries. The index evaluates the Nations according to their factors of wealth and welfare. The report by the Legatum Institute studied the situation in 142 countries around the world, that make up 96% of the world’s population and that in total make up 99% of the gross domestic product (GDP) overall. “Prosperity is more than the accumulation of material wealth, is the joy of life and the prospect of a life even better in the future. This is true for individuals as well as Nations. The prosperity index is the only global measure of prosperity on the basis of income and welfare. It is the most comprehensive tool of its kind and is the definitive measure of global progress,”the report says.

Personal freedom

The subscript Personal freedom includes freedom of expression and religion, the national tolerance for immigrants and ethnic and racial minorities. The best performance of Ecuador is in this sub-index, which is number 37 in 2014.

In regards to the compound of civil liberties and choice, the study mentions that the country has a score of 0.5, while the global average is 0.4. It adds that 78.8% of the population is satisfied with freedom of choice (2013) and 81.8% thinks that it is a good place to live for ethnic minorities. Read Article
