Ecuador: President to address issues of prosecutors improperly handle missing persons cases

The President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, announced Saturday that police officers who improperly handled the investigation of cases of missing persons will be dismissed and criminally prosecuted for corruption. “Police who ask for twenty cents for a phone call, will be immediately separated from the institution, and if possible criminal trial for corruption.” This is intolerable, has me outraged,”said the President on the occasion of its weekly report of work.

CORREA said that, during a meeting with relatives of missing on Wednesday, he received complaints about the performance of uniformed, asking for money to develop the inquiries, arguing that they lack of budget. Read Article
