Ecuador predicts population will be 23 million in the year 2050

Elmercurio.com.ec reported that in the year 2050 Ecuador will have 23.4 million inhabitants, according to population projections presented yesterday by the Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC). In 2012 the country has 15.5 million inhabitants. Projections for 2020 will have 17.5 million inhabitants in 2030, 19.8 million, in 2040, 21.8 million, and by 2050, 23.4 million. The projections are an essential tool to carry out population planning, economic, social and political life, and to establish possible scenarios and consider actions, said the director of INEC, David Vera.
