Ecuador plans to reduce size of military, better equip forces

According to Janes.com Ecuador plans to reorganize the country’s armed forces. The goal is to reduce the number of personnel and to better equip the military and to expand the reserves system.

A segment of the plan is to increase operations from border surveillance to support law enforcment objectives. It is believed that the current strength of 43,000 troops will reduce to 34,500. Also the current number of military units decrease from 271 to 235. Some army bases will also be eliminated. Read Article
