Ecuador: number of organ transplants increase

Lahora.com.ec reported that the number of transplants has grown: from just 184 in 2006 rose to 394 between January and August this year. Donations also increased. In 2009 there were 1.2 donors per million people, there are currently 2.5 and the authorities hope that by the end of the year up to three. Thus, importing organs, at the request of state agencies, declined. However, Ecuador continues under the average of other countries, like Spain that has 30 people donating organs per million.
