Ecuador: Investment in Education Grows under President Rafael Correa

telesurtv.net reported investment in education has grown under President Rafael Correa’s government.

Investment in the public education sector has grown since President Rafael Correa was elected in 2007. By increasing investment, focusing on quality, and building new schools, Ecuador’s public education system has experienced an increase in student enrollment while working towards the government goals of Good Living.

In the past year, public schools have experienced a 16 percent increase in enrollment, 36 percent of which transferred from private schools. Investment in education currently makes up 12 percent of the national budget, which is US$1.3 billion annually, and the government plans to build 200 new schools by the end of 2014. Read Article
