Ecuador: Government decree bannng gun manufacturing causes Chimbo to become ghost town

Until February this year, Tamban neighborhoods, Assumption and Sosanga were the most productive and employment generating Chimbo, Canton Bolívar. In these areas, 34 workshops were dedicated to crafting weapons. But last August 22 after the reform of the Law on Manufacture and Possession of Firearms, Ammunition and Explosives, the Executive issued resolution 1274 and permanently banned from this activity. That was despite existing licenses had lapsed and that in the first quarter of 2013. But the crisis in this sector began on March 24, 2010.
