Ecuador Fires: 4,000 hectares burned

Eluniverso.com reported that at least 3957 hectares, in some cases protected forest have been destroyed by forest fires in a span of three months and a half in eight provinces, according to preliminary statistics from the National Secretariat for Risk Management (SNGR). One person killed, dozens injured and semiasfixiados and economic losses are added as effects of disasters.

This situation remains on high alert relief agencies. In Quito, Pallatanga (Chimborazo) and Chilla (Gold) governs also the state of emergency due to the severity of fires. In all three areas, firefighters are still battling the flames. Read Article
