Ecuador: Copa jet runs off runway Quito airport, November 29, 2012

An airliner from COPA lost runway at Mariscal Sucre in Quito, said the director general of civil aviation, Fernando Guerrero, in his Twitter account (@ guerrerofer71).

The airport authority also announced the temporary closure of the airport to check the conditions. The aircraft is on the north end of the capital’s airport. Still unknown details of the event.

Aviation authorities announced that the airport will be closed until 20:00, to solve the problem.

NO INJURIES REPORTED AT PRESENT TIME

Mariscal Sucre Airport is located in an area with high civilian population. Accidents like this have forced city officials to build the new airport in the Tababela, about 40 minutes from the capital of Ecuador. Read Article
