Ecuador, Calls for Impeachment, Minister of Social and Economic Inclusion

According to Hoy.com.ec Galso Lara, assemblyman of the party Sociedad Patriotica and member of the fiscal and political control Commission presented the Legislative Management Council (CAL) an impeachment request against Ximena Ponce, Minister of Social and Economic Inclusion. The press release stated that Ponce dialed to conduct a necessary check in order to prevent fraud in the family coverage insurance system. Lara says that the minster failed to deliver the required information about family members who are part of the Bono de Desarrollo Humano, a benefits system, to their relatives. Also, Lara states that the money that was supposed to go to the relatives ended up in the pockets of government officials. Statistics detail that our of 21,970 people who are qualified for benefits only 4,422 people have been recipients.Read Article
