Ecuador: 112 Women Murdered through September 17, 2017

Flor Pineda Bamba died at 00:30 yesterday because of an injury to the jugular, allegedly caused by his partner , in the streets Felix Valencia and Quijano, in the city of Latacunga.

According to the police department of the uniformed New Circuit Vida, the crime would be a suspected femicide with the use of a weapon.

The uniformed men reported that they contacted a guy who was busting with the couple and indicated that at one point they started to argue and then noticed that the woman was bleeding on the floor.

He added that before that situation he took the victim to the street to ask for help. An ambulance arrived, but found that the woman had died. The suspect in the alleged femicide fled. The Dinased investigates the whereabouts of the suspect.

Until the end of July, the Interior Ministry reported 70 cases of femicide. Meanwhile, the Ecumenical Human Rights Commission (Cedhu) accounted for 83 deaths of this type until the same date.

Meanwhile, the citizen collective Geography Critic published a study on femicide in the country on September 17, which indicates that 112 women were killed from the beginning of this year until September 7.
