Dengue cases approach 2000 due to heavy rains

Nearly 2,000 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Guatemala with fears more may follow, reports Plan International.Heavy rain has waterlogged swathes of the tiny Central American country, creating the perfect breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes.Of the 1,813 confirmed cases, 26 have developed into the more serious dengue haemorrhagic fever, with three deaths.
