Cuenca Ecuador: End of year Celebrations, 12 Vehicle accidents, one death, 82 detained for DUI

metroecuador.com.ec reported Municipal GAD Cuenca, alongside with other canton authorities, assessed the results of the Contingency Plan held in December 2015, by New Year’s Eve holiday. In total, in this last holiday, were 12 traffic accidents with 11 injured with one victim dead. Likewise, he announced that the December 30, 2015 to January 3 2016, 82 people were arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Guillermo Cobo, commander of the Municipal Police, said 205 officers worked in patrols controlling puppets, fireworks, informal sales, ciudadanano receipt and consumption of liquor.

The Fire Department of Cuenca, through his Twitter account, reported by the entity atendidad other emergencies.

There were a total of 29 emergencies handled by year-end holiday: 19 forest fires and near-fires, five medical emergencies, two gas leaks, a rescue, a traffic accident and a structural fire.
