Cuba begins evacuation of high risk area before arrival of hurricane

Cuban authorities today began evacuating people from areas of risk and protective measures speed with the imminent arrival of Hurricane “Sandy”, expected to make landfall in eastern Cuba midnight from Jamaica today. In five provinces in the eastern region was declared today the maximum phase alarm-Las Tunas, Holguin, Guantanamo, Granma and Santiago de Cuba, and began the evacuation of people living in areas at risk of flooding or landslides into homes of relatives and friends, or government shelters.
