riviera-maya-news.com/Cozumel, Q.R. – Two American tourists were jailed on Thursday after store security caught them shoplifting. The pair, who arrived on the island of Cozumel via Carnival Cruise Line, were seen stealing from three different stores at Royal Village Shopping Plaza, a popular tourist district where cruise ships disembark. Around 3:00 p.m., the 20-year-old woman and 37-year-old man were followed out of the shopping plaza by store security and searched by police.

Police found them to be carrying two pairs of sunglasses from Sunglass Island, each pair worth 2,000 peso. They were also found with two pairs of sandals from the store, Staf as well as a bag of candy they took from a pharmacy. The items were returned to store managers, but not before the two were charged with theft. The couple was transferred to Public Safety (jail) facilities. Both are from Arizona. Read Article
