Cotacachi Ecuador: Criminals break through wall of expat’s home, police never show

ON March 14, 2014, while asleep in bed, an expat was awaken at 4:45 AM after her dog alerted her to activity outside the home and flashlights were seen through the bedroom window. The expat and companion began yelling which scared off the intruders. A friend who spoke Spanish called the police who said they would respond shortly. However, the police never arrived. The victim discovered a large hole the suspected thieves knocked out of her block fence that surrounds the property. The victim went to the police station with a translator. Officials on duty stated they did not answer the call for assistance because they were busy with other calls. There were no items reported stolen. Source: Facebook Social Media
