Costa Rica: First case of Chikunguna Virus Detected, French Tourist, may be imported

noticias.yahoo.com reported a French tourist is the first infected the virus chikunguna which is confirmed in Costa Rica, although authorities do not rule out that this is an imported case, said today the Ministry of health. The Director of epidemiological surveillance, María Ethel Trejos, said at a press conference that it is not excluded that the tourist come incubating the disease at the time of arrival to Costa Rica, but that is taken as the first case in the country with the aim of achieving greater prevention and surveillance measures. “It could be that the patient came incubating the disease, but for purposes of a more proactive performance and protection at the national level, we are taking it as the first case,” said Trejos.
