Colombia: Increase of illegal imports along border with Venezuela of explosives

RCN radio reported that there is an increase in the amount of explosives being imported by guerrilla groups from Venezuela. Much of this activity is in the area of Arauca and are for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.

To date in 2012 7 thousand kilos of explosives have been seized by Colombian authorities. Intelligence states that many of the players in this activity have been FARC members that have relocated to hideouts in Venezuela and are moving the devices through clandestine areas of the border. They are also using these passages for kidnapping crimes.

Efforts are being made by the military to strengthen the border between Colombia and Venezuela. Read Article
