Chile reiterates refusal to provide Boliva with outlet to the Pacific Ocean

Santiago de Chile, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfredo Moreno today reiterated Chile”s refusal to provide Bolivia with an outlet to the Pacific Ocean, while Bolivia remains at The Hague with its demand for sovereign access to the sea. In an interview with the Pulso newspaper, Moreno said that his country “is not willing to grant a part of its territory” to Bolivia, which on April 24 claimed at the International Court of Justice that Chile has an obligation to negotiate in good faith an agreement that provides sovereign access to the sea. The FM said that this has been the position of President Sebastián Piñera ever since he took office in March 2010. Read Article
