Canoa Ecuador, Attempted robbery on beach of U.S. expat couple (March, 2015)

earlybirdinecuador.wordpress.com reported… Jan and I have been visiting and enjoying Canoa’s beaches now for over three years. On our near-daily strolls, we have had the pleasure of crossing paths with many an expat and Ecuadorian. However, an unexpected encounter this morning was quite at odds with all of our prior shell-hunting excursions.

We were down a couple of kilometers from our condo when a hooded, knife wielding bandit approached Jan and me. Fortunately, I saw him when he was about a 100 yards away as he emerged from the bushes near an abandoned structure. His face was cloaked by a greyish, mesh-like hood as he brandished an 8 inch shimmering blade – a dead giveaway that trouble was in our immediate future. Read Article
