Two people were arrested and 180 kilos of marijuana were seized after a police operation in the Tocopilla, María Elena and Calama communities in Chile, La Tercera reports. The drug bust began May 25, 2012, when police were patrolling route 240. At around kilometer 10, police spotted a vehicle travelling west at 126 kilometers per hour. The driver ignored signals to stop, and a chase ensued. With backup assistance, police were able to intercept the vehicle 20 kilometers later. The two individuals in the vehicle had recently attempted to throw drugs off a flight, which officials had found a few hours earlier. After further investigations, police discovered the two had buried more drugs in the desert and had left many packages along various highways. In total, the discovery was valued at over one million dollars. View Article
