Brazil: Evangelical Pastor Feliciano Holds First Human Rights Commission Meeting

On March 27, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that federal deputy Marco Feliciano (PSC-SP), Evangelical pastor and President of the Chamber of Deputies’ Human Rights Commission, conducted his first meeting yesterday without interruption from protesters.  Mr. Feliciano conducted a debate about how to help residents of the city of Santo Amaro da Purificação, Bahia, suffering from lead poisoning.  “This is democracy,” Mr. Feliciano said, adding that it was needed to take immediate but not austere measures to help those affected.  He also heard a case involving Corinthians soccer fans currently jailed in Bolivia.  Read Article
