Brazil Eases Work Visa Application To Attract Foreigners

On May 20, 2013, Globo reported that due to the complicated procedure for foreigners to obtain a work visa in Brazil, the government reduced the number of required documents from fifteen to three; forms that can be filled out and sent over the internet. In addition, work visas; which originally took up to three months to process, will now be issued in 30 days. Brazil lacks the number of qualified professionals in engineering, oil, and system analysis; areas that imperative to the economy as the World Cup and the Olympics quickly approach. Due to high unemployment rates in Europe, Brazil has become more appealable for work as within the first quarter of 2013, 15,000 foreigners were issued work visas. Read Article
