Bahia, Brazil: Human Trafficking Complaints Increase in State

tribunadabahia.com.br reported on September 20, 2013 that national and international trafficking in Bahia has raised concern in the state as the number of complaints have increased. The secretary of the Committee for Preventing and Combating Trafficking in persons states that 80% of trafficked people are women forced into sexual acts or labor between 18 and 19-years old. The recipient cities of interstate trafficking are Feira de Santana , Ilheus , Porto Seguro , Juazeiro , Salvador, Petrolina and Ipiaú while Salvador is the number one location for sending people to Europe.
