At least 15 people perish in attempt to reach Puerto Rico for better life

The relief teams from the Dominican Republic on Sunday continued the search for possible survivors of a boat that sank while transporting some 70 illegal immigrants to Puerto Rico, of which at least 15 died and only 11 have been rescued alive.

“In my life I do it again,” he told the AP Sobeida Maria Guzman, 28, and the only woman rescued alive from the wreck occurred early Saturday, referring to the crossing and illegal to enter the United States. Guzman, mother of three, said he paid 40,000 pesos (1,030 dollars) for travel in the small boat to reach Puerto Rico, where a premium was promised work as a manicurist. Read Article
