Arapongas, Brazil: Arrests Increase for Drug Trafficking Charges

tnonline.com.br reported on September 1, 2013 that according to the Military Police, the number of arrests for drug trafficking in Arapongas increased by 32% compared to last year. Between January and August of last year, there were 87 arrests compared to 115 for this year. Police report the changing profile of traffickers and the increased repression against the crime has caused the arrest rate to grow. Police reference the change in drug trafficking in Arapongas to be known as “ant-trafficking”. Drug traffickers carry small amounts of narcotics to consumers to avoid seizure of large number of drugs and to protect the drug leader. Read Article
