Apata, Peru: Circus Owner Accused of Human Trafficking, Missing Girl Rescued

On July 17, 2013 Diario Correo Noticias reported that the National Police of Apata raided the “Azteca de México” circus after receiving a complaint accusing the circus of human trafficking. During the operation, police also located a 14-year-old girl who had been missing for several months and who was working in the circus. When police questioned América Cano Espinoza as to why she was keeping the young girl illegally, the accused suspect offered no explanation. The victim was reportedly kidnapped from an area located in the central jungle region. Read Article
