American Visas to Brazilians Fall 26% in February 2013

On March 11, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that Brazilians are starting to receive fewer visas to come to the United States.  Visa numbers in February of 2013 were 26% lower than in February of 2012, an all four visa-issuing American consulates in Brazil (Brasília, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) reported decreases in visas granted.  These numbers come while, at the same time, the United States government has agreed to expand its consulate in São Paulo, as it currently receives nearly six thousand applications for visas and permissions per day.  Read Article
