America Movil to invest $180m in Ecuador in 2011

Ecuador’s largest cellphone company, Porta Celular, the local unit of Mexican communications giant America Movil SAB, plans to invest about $180 million during 2011 in the Andean country, the company’s president told Dow Jones Newswires. In an interview on Thursday, Alfredo Escobar said that the investment, which will be 45% higher compared with 2010, will go to technology and infrastructure to expand Porta’s coverage in the country.
