9 percent of Peru’s population over age 60

About the National Day of Older Persons , to be held tomorrow, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics ( INEI ) reported that there are currently 000 2’700 people over 60 years, which represents 9% of the total population. In terms of gender, by 2012, the population of women over 60 years amounts to 1’986 .709 people. Meanwhile, the male population is 565 1’845. Each year, seniors increased by 3.3% and is expected by 2021, this population group is of 3’727 .000 and thus represent 11.2%. The institution explained that the departments in which the largest number of people aged 60 or more are Arequipa, Moquegua, Lima and Callao. Meanwhile, with 4.6%, the Mother of God is the department with the lowest adult population in Peru. Read Article
