3 Soldiers Detained in Colombia with More than 300 Kilos of Cocaine

May 23, 2013- According to lainformacion.com, on May 22 Colombian authorities detained two retired soldiers and one active-duty soldier who were transporting 300 kilos of cocaine and also had 16 million pesos in cash (roughly 8,700 USD). The soldiers were arrested on the highway that connects Plato and Zambrano in the department of Magdalena. The three soldiers are charged with the trafficking, manufacture, and possession of drugs. In addition, they face charges of misuse of items for the exclusive use of the military and illegal possession of weapons. According to the investigation, the cocaine was brought to Colombia to be later sent to Central America and belonged to Víctor Manuel Navarro, aka “Megateo,” who manages large drug trafficking operations throughout the world, and especially has ties with drug cartels in Mexico.
