15,000 tourists snowed in at tunnel connecting Chile and Argentina

Fes.sott.net reported that some 15,000 tourists, mainly Chileans, take two days blocked by the closure of the Cristo Redentor tunnel, because of the snow, to local authorities.

According to the National Highway Argentina , the tunnel, which connects Chile and Argentina, was closed on Saturday because of a storm of wind and snow. The regional director of the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of Interior Argentine Guillermo de La Maza, estimated that they will be declining snowfall overnight.
