1,500 kilos of drugs shipped from Ecuador to the Americas, Europe, and Asia this year

1,484.9 kilos of drugs have been seized in various locations in the Americas, Europe, and Asia so far in 2012. The total value of these drugs is valued at over $190 million, El Universo reports. Several notable seizures include one that took place in the Milan, Italy airport in January, when police arrested five people with 40 kilograms of cocaine. On May 1, six people were arrested off the coast of Guatemala with 555 kilos of cocaine. Most recently, customs officials in Hong Kong found 649 kilograms of cocaine at the port, the largest drug shipment ever discovered in the city. Other busts occurred in France, England, and Belgium.
