End of “Operation Barriers” in Manaus, Brazil

Globo reported on May 27, 2103, the end of “Operation Barriers” which was designed to increase security in the streets of Manaus as well as combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. Started this past Friday, the operation closed 48 bars, confiscated 36 vehicles, and detained 19 suspects. The Public Security Bureau of Amazonas talked with more than 8,000 people and inspected 9,000 vehicles. As well, the Police located 183 packages of different drugs. Read Article
